Our people

Dean Jefferies

Manager

With over 25 years’ specialist experience in all aspects of VAT and indirect taxes, I advise a broad range of clients including owner-managed businesses, large corporates, and not-for-profit organisations.

I take pride in gaining a deep understanding of each client’s business, which enables me to provide technical expertise that is tailored for our client’s needs and commercially focused VAT advice.

My expertise spans complex areas such as land and property, partial exemption, and international VAT on both goods and services. I also assist with day-to-day matters such as VAT registration and compliance and advise on other indirect taxes including import duty.

I particularly enjoy the challenge of dealing with HMRC, whether that’s disputing decisions, supporting clients through inspections, or representing them at tribunal. VAT can often be a confusing and technical area of tax, but my strength lies in translating complex legislation into clear, plain English. I aim to ensure that clients not only understand the issues but also have clarity on the best course of action.

At Rayner Essex, my role is to further develop and enhance our VAT services, ensuring our clients receive high quality vat accounting services and proactive support.

Outside of work, I enjoy most sports, going on long walks, travelling, and spending time with my family.
