Jason joins from Haines Watts where he was Head of VAT. Prior to that he was VAT Manager at Cooper Parry Chartered Accountants. He has been a dedicated VAT professional for more than 22 years and is widely respected by clients and fellow professionals. He has worked widely across the UK.
“I have always found VAT fascinating, the way it is driven by law and that it changes on a near weekly basis as new case law creates new issues and opportunities to explore. I was very much into Lego and puzzles in my youth and always had an eye for problem solving, which are perfect attributes in the world of VAT!
VAT is such a complex tax and there is plenty of scope to help businesses avoid penalties and distress. “
Jason also provides advice on Stamp Duty Land Taxes and Import Duties, something which will be of substantial interest with some form of Brexit expected in the near future.
Jason joins a growing firm and will be supporting clients from both the London and St. Albans offices of Rayner Essex.
He has a wide list of interests including; skiing, hiking and off-road biking, whilst his more sedate hobbies include gardening, Anglo – French history and psychology.
Commenting on Jason’s appointment Rayner Essex Tax Partner Mark Moore said:
“Jason is a welcome addition to our team and I am sure he will be a great asset for our clients going forward. He is a VAT expert, whilst his Stamp Duty Land Tax and Import Duty knowledge will also be of interest to our clients and potential clients. He joins a vibrant, progressive and expanding firm, with a distinctive culture.”
The appointment came into effect on 9th September 2019.
