I joined Rayner Essex in April 2015, having worked in the outsourcing payroll sector for over 10 years. I studied with the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals since 2005, qualifying in 2013 with a BA (Hons) in Applied Business and Management. Since 2022, I have also been a Tutor for IPP Education Ltd, which provides even more opportunities to share my knowledge and my enthusiasm with other like-minded payroll professionals.

As Partner and Head of payroll, I have overall responsibility for designing and developing robust processes, instilling learning and development within the team, and managing risk and compliance. Collectively, this enables us to deliver client-focused payroll, pension and payment services that are secure, accurate and timely.

Our clients come from various industry sectors, with workforces ranging from 1 to 1,300 employees. It doesn’t matter if you are a start- up or established business; we adapt our approach to ensure you are supported, whether going through a period of growth or reducing headcount. We provide workplace pension services with a range of service levels, as well as secure payment solutions through BACS, providing clients with the level of support that works best for their business.

The payroll environment is constantly changing with the introduction of RTI, auto-enrolment and payrolling benefits. We understand, interpret and create awareness through education and support so clients can navigate the changes affecting the business-critical function.

No two days are alike, and priorities can change quickly, so flexibility and adaptability are key to everything we do. One minute I could be reviewing a payroll, then releasing a BACS payment, assisting the team with a query or liaising with a potential new client. Every day brings new challenges and something new to learn.

Outside of work, both my husband and I love exploring the world so if I am not at my desk, I will most likely be making memories on holiday. Catching up on soaps, doing a HIIT or Boxercise class gives me a chance to get away from the seriousness of work and life in general too!
