Further Grants Announced
Further to the new lockdown announcements, Rishi Sunak has announced more grants to support business
Extension of Annual Investment Allowance (AIA)
HM Treasury has now announced that businesses, including manufacturing firms, can continue to claim up to £1m in same-year tax relief through AIA.
CJRS Update – Notice Periods
HMRC have now advised that from 1 December 2020, employers will not be able to make claims for any employees serving either contractual or statutory notice periods.
Retrospective Working Arrangements – Deadline
If you are revising your employees working arrangements with regard to the extended CJRS (Furlough Scheme) the deadline is 13 November – Act Now!
Furlough Scheme Extended Further
The government has announced a new lockdown for England lasting for one month until the 2 December 2020. As a result of this, the government have postponed the introduction of the Job Support Scheme (JSS) which was due to start 1 November 2020 and was meant to replace the existing Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), also known as the Furlough Scheme.
Increased Support for Self Employed November 2020
In line with the Furlough Scheme extension, the government have announced, on 2 November, that they will be increasing support for the self-employed and ensuring faster payments. This provides broadly equivalent support to the self-employed as is being provided to employees through the government contribution in the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme in November and then the Job Support Scheme in the two subsequent months.

Finance Update October 2020
On Friday, Rishi Sunak announced an effective extension to the Job Support Scheme to apply to businesses that are legally required to close as a result of local lockdown requirements.
