SDLT – Non-resident Surcharge

There is a new, additional SDLT non-resident surcharge (NRS), applicable to non-resident persons (or non-resident entities) who acquire property in England and Northern Ireland from 1 April 2021.  This new surcharge does not apply to Scotland and Wales, who have devolved powers, but it is likely that both Wales and Scotland will introduce similar measures in due course.

Furlough Scheme Extended Further

The government has announced a new lockdown for England lasting for one month until the 2 December 2020. As a result of this, the government have postponed the introduction of the Job Support Scheme (JSS) which was due to start 1 November 2020 and was meant to replace the existing Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), also known as the Furlough Scheme.
