Rayner Essex SportsAid lunch with Retired Footballer John Lukic
The next Rayner Essex SportsAid Lunch is on Friday 17th November 2017 and we are pleased to announce the guest speaker will be ex Arsenal and Leeds United footballer, John Lukic.
John Lukic, born in Chesterfield, started his football career at Leeds United and played around 200 games for the Yorkshire team until moving to Arsenal in 1983 for £75,000. He won the League Cup with Arsenal in 1987, the Division One title in 1989 and made over 200 appearances for the Gunners, before rejoining Leeds United for £1 million in 1990. With Leeds he played over 250 games and won his won a second career League title in 1992. In 1996, Lukic rejoined Arsenal as their sub Goalkeeper and played only 15 times including a Champions League match against Lazio which at the time made him the oldest player to play in the competition. He retired from football in 2001.
